2017 NV NASA EPSCoR RID Seed Grant – 05/22/17 deadline to apply

The programmatic focus is to further engage and utilize Nevada’s unique resources and talent for enhancing greater scientific discovery and developing new technologies to address NASA’s mission goals. The request for seed grant funds may be based on outcomes from prior workshops/meetings with NASA Personnel; however, these funds should not augment existing funded research projects.  Research Infrastructure Development (RID) activities should target unique activities that increase Nevada’s competitiveness.

Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) Summer 2016

The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) announces the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) Summer 2017 AND 2017-2018 Academic Year Scholarships to promote undergraduate research.

Focus: The UROP program promotes intensive undergraduate research opportunities for university students. Through these research experiences, our goal is to enhance the recruitment and retention of undergraduates in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines, particularly those related to solar energy and its effects on water resources and the environment in general.

Eligibility: Undergraduate students enrolled full time (12 credits for fall and 1-3 credits for summer) at any NSHE institution during the time they are conducting their research. Scholar must have a NSHE faculty mentor to supervise their research project.

Students working in areas of science, technology, engineering or math (STEM), except for medical sciences, are eligible. Fields related to solar energy, water and/or environmental research are of special interest. Students with research tied to medical sciences are encouraged to apply for the National Institutes of Health IDeA Network for Biomedical Research Excellence (NIH INBRE). NASA EPSCoR CAN Request for Preproposal – 10/24/16 deadline to apply

We anticipate that the National NASA EPSCoR Research CAN will be released in December 2016 or January 2017. To allow sufficient time to select and develop a strong full proposal from Nevada, a letter of intent and pre-proposals are being solicited in advance of the Federal CAN release. It is anticipated that only one full proposal per EPSCoR state will be permitted.

We are currently basing this solicitation on past solicitations and at this time, do not anticipate any drastic changes to occur.

2018+ Preliminary Multi-year Hands-On-Training Faculty Competition – 8/22/17 deadline to apply

The primary focus of this program is to firmly establish new or continuing STEM hands-on-training activities that utilize NASA related interdisciplinary content for higher education and/or pre-college students. Proposals should include authentic, hands-on student activities in NASA-related STEM disciplines.  Examples of topic areas that are being targeted include but are not limited to: NASA Challenges, space/planetary exploration, aeronautical engineering, off-grid habitation and utilization of NASA-specific assets (e.g., satellite data) for climate change evaluation and adaption topics and other NASA relevant topics.  Proposals may include the development of teams to compete in science and engineering challenges relevant to NASA.
