Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) Academic Year 2022-2023 Scholarships – 09/26/2022 Deadline to Apply

The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) announces the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) Academic Year 2022-2023 Scholarships to promote undergraduate research.

Focus: The UROP program promotes intensive undergraduate research opportunities for university students. Through these research experiences, our goal is to enhance the recruitment and retention of undergraduates in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines, particularly those related to fire science.

Eligibility: Undergraduate students enrolled full time (12 credits), during both Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 at any NSHE institution during the time they are conducting their research. Scholar must have an NSHE faculty mentor to supervise their research project. Past recipients of an NSF-EPSCoR undergraduate research scholarship under the current HDRFS award are not eligible to apply.

Students working in areas of science, technology, engineering or math (STEM), except for medical sciences, are eligible. Fields related to fire science areas: 1) Ecology, 2) Hydrology, 3) Fire Processes; and 4) Fire Emissions and their Atmospheric Aging are of special interest. Students with research tied to medical sciences are encouraged to apply for the National Institutes of Health IDeA Network for Biomedical Research Excellence (NIH INBRE). Round 2: 2022-2023 Pre-College Teacher Training (TT) and Hands-On-Training (HOT) Program – 07/11/2022 Deadline to apply

The Nevada Space Grant Consortium (NVSGC) seeks to fund 3 Teacher Training and/or Hands-On-Training projects with a maximum federal contribution of $25,667 each. Due to requirements of the Space Grant program, a 1:1 institutional match is required on all awarded funds. The number of awards and funding level are contingent on the requested amount for each proposal and the availability of funds. We will announce the proposals selected for funding prior to our receipt of next year’s funds. Please note that potential delays in Congressional appropriations and release of funds may result in late sub-awards. We currently anticipate making sub-awards during Summer 2022.

Round 2: 2022-2023 Higher Education (HE): Curriculum Development (CD) and Hands-on-Training (HOT) Faculty Competition – 07/11/2022 Deadline to apply

The Nevada Space Grant Consortium (NVSGC) seeks to fund four projects for either Curriculum Development or Hands-On-Training. The maximum federal contribution for each project is
$25,000. Due to requirements of the Space Grant program, a 1:1 institutional match is required on all awarded funds. The total maximum budget amount with match per proposal therefore is $50,000 (maximum $25,000 federal + maximum $25,000 institutional match). The number of awards and funding level are contingent on the availability of funds. We will announce the proposals selected prior to our receipt of next year’s funds. Please note that potential delays in Congressional appropriations and release of funds may result in late sub-awards. We currently anticipate making sub-awards during Summer 2022. The Nevada NASA Space Grant Consortium (NVSGC) announces available funding for the 2022-2023 Undergraduate Scholarship Program. This opportunity is designed to support independently conceived research or hands-on-projects by NSHE undergraduate students in disciplines that will help advance the missions and goals of NASA. Scholarship projects should generate measurable results or advancements in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) research that are relevant to NASA’s science and technology goals.

2023 Nevada NASA EPSCoR Research Collaboration Notice of Funding Opportunity – 06/27/22 LOI Deadline

The National NASA EPSCoR Program will be releasing the 2023 Research Collaboration Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO)  in late August of 2022. NV NASA EPSCoR will be permitted to submit a single full proposal, which will likely be due in November 2022. To allow sufficient time to select and develop a single strong full proposal from Nevada, a letter of intent and pre-proposals are being solicited in advance of the Federal NOFO release.

Eligibility: Undergraduate students enrolled full time (1-3 credits for summer) at any NSHE institution during the time they are conducting their research. Scholar must have a NSHE faculty mentor to supervise their research project. Past recipients of a NSF-EPSCoR undergraduate research scholarship under the current NEXUS award are not eligible to apply.

Students working in areas of science, technology, engineering or math (STEM), except for medical sciences, are eligible. Fields related to solar energy, water and/or environmental research are of special interest. Students with research tied to medical sciences are encouraged to apply for the National Institutes of Health IDeA Network for Biomedical Research Excellence (NIH INBRE). Nevada NASA EPSCoR Suborbital Flight Opportunity CAN – 02/28/22 LOI Deadline

The National NASA EPSCoR Program has announced a new solicitation entitled “Suborbital Flight Opportunity” program. This solicitation is for current or previously funded EPSCoR projects or other research projects that are mature enough to design a research experiment or develop research experimental hardware to the point that it can be flown in a suborbital environment.

2022-2023 NV NASA Space Grant Research Infrastructure – 03/07/2022 Deadline to apply

The Nevada Space Grant Consortium (NVSGC) seeks to develop a diverse and capable Nevada STEM workforce by providing funds for NASA-related faculty research and/or workforce development projects. Selected faculty projects will enhance Nevada’s research infrastructure and/or provide STEM workforce development opportunities for students in NASA Mission Directorate research topic areas (see attached list). These funds should not augment existing funded research projects.
