WELCOME

The Annual Nevada Climate Change meeting will be held at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on February 13, 2012 in the Student Union-Ballrooms B & C.

The Annual State Meeting will include oral presentations featuring research results of Nevada’s National Science Foundation-funded Climate Change project. Additionally, the meeting will host a session with poster presentations by faculty, stakeholders, and students. The objective of this meeting is to share research findings resulting from Nevada’s Climate Change studies.

Nevada’s NSF EPSCoR Climate Change Project

The goal of the Nevada NSF EPSCoR Climate Change Science, Education, and Outreach project, is to stimulate research, education, and outreach centered on the effects of regional climate change on ecosystem resources. The six capacity-building components that will fill infrastructure gaps in climate modeling are ecological change; water resources; policy, decision-making, and outreach; cyberinfrastructure; and education. The goal of the project is to build Nevada’s capacity to model regional climate change, evaluate methods to downscale model output, understand and quantify key ecological and hydrological processes, translate climate change science into formats usable by decision-makers, integrate models and data, and improve how students learn about climate change.

Attendees

Attendees will include all individuals interested in learning about the latest in climate change science and education in Nevada, including NSF EPSCoR project team members and leaders; NSHE VPRs, faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, and administrators; Nevada stakeholders; members of the External Research and Technical Advisory Board (ERTBA); and members of Nevada’s State EPSCoR Advisory Board.
